The Mobile is the Message

How will your life change if you stopped using a mobile phone?

In 2011, I had set up a local enterprise and decided that I didn't want the additional expense of a mobile phone account.

So I decided to focus on using the internet at the business centre and carry out normal communication via either the landline at the enterprise or at home.

The key changes:

  1. You learn that you need to know the location of where you want to go and the exact time when you want to meet someone, rather than rely on calling the person when you reach there.
  2. The availability of information on the phone. Instead of trying to Google a place before you reach it, do your research before you reach the house.
  3. In this day and age, people are used to calling you just when they reach your town, rather than call a few days before, to let you know they are coming to your location.
