Cloud services versus mobile services
Been without a mobile phone for two months now, out of which one month
involved using a smartphone without a SIM card. That is when I realised
that services such as texting (SMS) and Whatsapp were flawwed in that
there was no surety of delivery and difficulty in backup.
On the other hand, services such as facebook, Gmail and Outlook.com , being cloud-based, create an easy multi-device accessibility, which cannot be matched by any current mobile service. This is most applicable especially in the case of people who want to travel between countries and still keep their contacts and conversations intact. This is where the futility of services such as SMS and Whatsapp become apparent, due to their lack of portability.
